[s-cars] RE: More ol to turbo feed

Yeah, I'm going to try the oil filler cap vent and Lucas Oil Stabilizer first, although several 944t tuners suggest the oil feed restrictor with Garrett turbos. No smoke out the exhaust, but the intercooler pipes are full of oil. I don't doubt there's a problem with the oil rings, but compression is good and leak down was under 10% on all cylinders. And oil consumption is only really excessive on the track.
Any thoughts on using Lucas Oil Stabilizer, with synthetic or dino juice?

A whole 'nother subject.... Lots of BTDT without much success. The feed line
and the restrictor in it to the turbo has to be maintained in terms of design
and pressure. This has to do with the boundary layer of oil pressure around
the bearings. I always figured more oil to the bearings was better. What I
found was that small changes in oil feed oriface (pipe or restrictor/diffusers)
could make a difference between a smoker and a non smoker turbo. I also
suspect that many of the early ball bearing turbos that went on audi applications
suffered from this problem.

Proceed with caution here Gary. Make sure you do your homework.

Stabilizer (anyone tried this stuff in a turbo application?), maybe turn the boost
down a bit (yeah I know in the Audi world, 16psig is nothing). And maybe a
restrictor in the oil feed line to the turbo, as others with 944T's have used
with Garrett turbos. Anyone running a Garrett on the Audi 20vt noticed a lot of
oil in their intercooler pipes?
