I had this happen to me earlier this year. If the rim is bent at all badly, then you typically have sidewall damage of some kind. The problem is you never know how bad it is until it fails. A visual inspection of the inside of the tire may not tell the whole story. My front right rim was bent and ripped and the bead still held and was driveable. The inside was a real mess. My insurance company had no problem replacing 2 rims and 2 tires for my inciident. It was a good chance for me to upgrade to OZ Superleggeras.
