Bob
I had this problem for about a year, intermittent over boost safety cutout
during full throttle. It turned out to be something to do with the MAF.
I had a shop replace something (I can't remember what it was) which required
them to remove the MAF to access. When they reinstalled it my problem went
away (it has been over a year now). I had fiddled with the MAF before with
no luck.
I did notice that there was a difference about the way they installed the
MAF to the hose that feeds the turbo, I had always fastened the
hose clamp to the hose AND around the support to hold the MAF in place (this
is the way I found it, so that is the way I put it back). The shop had
installed the clamp ONLY around the hose and let the MAF just rest on the
support. I concluded that the original installation allowed some air to be
sucked into the engine without being metered which caused the ECU to figure
that something was wrong.
Hope this helps, It took me a long time to figure that one out! Even then it
was by accident!
