[s-cars] Front Suspension Noise 95 S6

My bet is on your upper strut bearings. I had a similar noise in my '95 with 60K miles. I upgraded to Bilsteins/Eibach and replaced the upper strut bearings at the same time. The upper strut bearing is about 5 inch diameter ring of ball bearings that allow the strut to turn when you turn the steering wheel...anyway, the noise is gone. They are mounted to the underside of the camber plates, so you have to pull the struts and compress the coil springs to get
to the bearings.

FWIW, I found ECS Tuning (Ohio) to be good for the parts(bearing, rubber bellows, etc) and SHOX.COM for the springs and shocks.

Hope this helps,

The sound is metalic thunk... similar to what you'd expect if there was a loose connection somewhere in the linkage. The sound mostly comes from the right front but I've noticed it on the left side as well. I have visually inspected the swing arms when I last rotated the wheels and did not see anything obvious.

Would like to know if this type of sound would be indicative of worn struts of if there are other points that would be probable sources of this sound. If it is likely that I need new struts, I would appreciate recommendations on factory replacements vs. after market options.
