So I went and bought the TurboXS type 25 bypass valve (thanks again JP), and slapped it in yesterday. Literature states it is adjustable and good to around 25 psi. It also said that if you are running it as a blow-off valve, put all 6 washers in. I'm not using it as a blow-off valve, but I figured WTF, I'm running 26 psi, the worse thing that could happen is that the valve won't crack at idle, or I'd get an enormous spike and snap a boost hose/IC.
It looks really cool...
So, 6 washers later, my idle is identical, the car boosts 200 rpm SOONER, and there are no boost spikes between shifts. I speculate that the 710n valve was cracking at higher boost levels, creating a pressure loss.
Did I mention it looks cool?
I really want 26 psi at 3,000 rpm. (with the turbo I got, btw...)
Everything seems like a total success, I just worry that 6 washers is overkill. Pizzo, what did you use??
Next pressure loss victim: FMIC
And later, following the visionary footsteps of Hap and MLP, we revisit the RAIS...
