Hi Mark;

The Euro lenses you received are probably intended to fit the Euro UrS
headlight assembly which has projector lights for the low beam and fogs.
Aren't the 100S headlights a conventional style light (no projector lights)?
If so, they probably take a different lens.

Subject: [s-cars] Re: Headlight Upgrade - Euro Lenses/Audi 100S
revisited

Well, gentlemen,

last night I yanked out the headlight assembly from the other half's
'93 Audi 100S and proceeded to disassemble it and remove the existing
(US-Spec I presume) Hella glass that was in it. Got it good and clean,
washed down the reflector several times (poured-on windex and soft
cotton seems to work the best with the least damage), and was ready to
put the Euro lens we ordered from Paul over at PUMA Products
(paul at puma-access.com), only to find out that it was about a millimeter
too large in two dimensions to fit in the reflector housing's groove
correctly. The US lens had been glued/affixed into an U-shaped groove
about the edge of the reflector; the Euro spec one had a ridge that
might have fit (had the groove been more shallow, and had the reflector
casing been slightly larger -- again, by about 1.5 mm wider and about
1.2 mm taller). Naturally, I'm rather disturbed by this occurrence, as
I had hoped to get this epoxy'd up Friday night and into her car
Saturday during the day.

So, before I go and call Paul on Monday (which will probably happen
anyway), here's my question for the list: am I missing something
obvious, like the reflector needs to be milled down about the edge in
order to accommodate the lens? The information Paul had sent me
indicated that the lens should be a direct fit.

Any insight appreciated.
