This thing has been on ebay before. I've perused the pix several times
and thought about actually looking at it. But note that the bidding is
at 7500+ already and still hasn't met reserve. Yeah, a good '85 is
worth more, but not to me with all those miles at that type of wholesale
lot.
Things I noted:
1. The license plates doreflect a 1985 issue. The "Sunshine" plates
were introduced late in '84 and a "2Cxxxxx" would be sometime in 85. I
registered a "2DLFxxx" in October '85 myself. However many people
"updated" to this new plate look in preference to the yellow on blue
standard at the time. In CA a plate goes with the car, not wth the
owner, so it doesn't prove anything about number of owners.
2. The seats are later style UrQ leather as is the bar-graph difflocks
and the updated dash.
3. I was under the impression that the taillights should be black, but
perhaps not for the US? Canada and ROW was for sure black IIRC.
4. Front lights look like early units. I don't think the US model ever
got the onepiece sloped units but I think the surrounds should be black,
not chrome. Chrome was until '83, then it went to black, no? They do
fade over time though, the balck flakes off, especially in SoCal if the
car isn't garaged and fanatically taken care of.
5. Odometer: Either it really wasn't driven very much or it had the
same failure that my '80 4k and my 84 GT had - the plastic tooth in the
odometer breaks making it function intermittently. Both of mine
recorded at most 20% of the actual driven mileage on any given trip.
