Oiled pump have a longer life and are more efficient, at least in
industrial use. I don't know if it would make a difference in your case.
The drawback is the compressed air is contaminated with oil. It can be a
benefit for tools as it keep them lubricated but it's not desirable if
you use the compressed air for cleaning. An oil filter cartridge can be
added on the line to remove the oil mist but this have to be renewed
periodically. IMHO, I would choose an oil-free pump despites the
durability concern which may not be an issue for light use like
wrenching.

Hey there, I'm looking to get a compressor from Sears and would like to
enlist your knowledge base to help me with my decision. I am looking at
a 30gal. 6hp vertical Craftsman Model. They have one that has an oil
free pump and one that requires oil. Is there a benefit to one over the
other?
Thanks in advance for your input.
Regards,
Mark
