[s-cars] ECS Big Reds, Mintex reds, and horrendous brake squeal

Hey all,

Let me preface thsi by saying I am a super novice Sunday mechanic.... but
learning!

I just replaced the pads in my ECS stage 2 brake conversion setup. I was
getting some minor brake sounds when cold, and since I had tracked them
recently (used the street pads, as I could not extract the street pads from
the vibration springs in order to install the track pads), so I decided to
replace the street pads.

So the old ones were removed, the vibration pads removed, new pads put in. I
heard the vibration pads were worthless, so I took them out.

Now my car sounds like a garbage truck when braking, it is so bad I don't
even want to drive it. Literally, you can hear it 3 blocks away, people
curse at me, dogs howl. But they work fine, no noticeable difference in
performance.

1) Should I remove the pads and re-install the anti-vibration springs? What
about that brake stuff you spray on the back of the pads?
2) Should I get a different brand of pads? Perhaps the Mintex reds are too
hard for daily street use?
3) Can someone please explain to me how to easily remove & swap the street
to track pads at the track when the adhesive from the back of the
anti-vibration pads adheres to the back of the pads? I compress the picton
back, but it's nearly impossible to extract the pad. Perhaps there is some
special tool or technique that addresses this?

ECS seems to be closed today, or I would ask them.

Thanks in advance,

Robert
