[s-cars] ECS Big Reds, Mintex reds, and horrendous brake squeal

IIRC, the OLD 993tt big reds, although using the same piston O/D as the NEW,
sexy, lightweight 996 monoblocs, use different pad dampening clips. Both
calipers use the same adhesive pad material, only the 996 monobloc uses one
large adhesive-backed pad with two cups riveted to the pad. The cups fit
inside the piston bores. On the 993tt big reds, each piston uses an
individual spider clip design, rather than a cup, that snaps or clips into
the piston bore, rather than simply "fitting" into the piston (ala 996).
HTH,
Ray

<Snip>....Interestingly the old dampeners can be
used on the earlier calipers, but not that other way around (w/o
modification) <Snip>
