Hi Elijah:

I'm copying the S-List on this one because a narrow or wide first is a pers=
onal choice and am seeking opinions here.

FWIW, Audi changed the 01E (all 6 speed Quattros) in 1995 from a 22 mm to a=
25 mm wide first because the RS2 (315 HP) was coming in under warranty wit=
h busted first gears.

The DSY, while having a "C" center case, uses the small or narrow first acc=
ording to ETKA and the DSY I sold to Peter Blaser had one, but I had it cha=
nged to the wide one. Oddly enough, the mainshaft is cut for the wide first.

What this means for you is that your newly installed and cost effective DSY=
is prone to early first gear wear if you dirve your car the way I do... (I=
've been told that I drive "aggressively", whatever that means).

Kind Regards

Rob

    Hi Elijah:

I just looked at ETKA and see that the DSY uses the wide center case, b=
ut has the narrow 257D first gear...

  Rob,
So for somone like me what does that mean? Is this bad?
