I just had my timing belt/water pump replaced, and coolant flushed at the
local Audi Dealer, and Unfortunately I too had some problems, although not
near as bad as the posts I read last month.
First I had noticed while changing the oil that the timing belt cover latch
was missing, a hole was drilled into the cover, and it was secured with a zip
tie.
Second, a day later as I was packing the car to drive 500 miles to my parents
for Christmas, that there was a stream of coolant running down my driveway.
I found the culprit..a loose hose clamp! It took two hours to correct, since I
had to access the clamp by removing the metal I/C pipe under the car, and it
took numerous attempts to reposition, and tighten the hose clamp. The angle
was that so I could barely get a 10th of a turn on the clamp. It was 9pm, 23
degrees, and coolant was dripping on my head. Fun!
When I returned I contacted the service manager, he was concerned, wanted to
look at the car, and offered (after I asked for compensation) a $50.00 gift certificate!
That will buy a coupla oil filters, and some coolant that is always needed.
An a new timing belt cover latch as well.
