[s-cars] wider wheels - opinion

Also keep in mind that the UrS4/6 is prone to camber
problems (particularly in car with suspension
modifications) and with an extra-wide tire this will
be accentuated.

With all due respect, anything over 245 on a rim wider
than 17x 8 inches is money down the drain and a
performance handicap (unless you spend really big
bucks on 17inch+ forged wheels). Not to mention that
you will probably experience tire rub up front with
anything bigger than 255/40/16. Don't forget, the
UrS4/6 is a 4000lb car, unless you buy superior cast
or forged alloy wheels you are risking damage to your
wheels and therefore suspension.

For the money the best wheels for the UrS4/6 are the 5
spoke forged alloy ronal rims that were an option on
the early S4 and standard on the 95S6. They weigh
16.5-17lbs each, cost $200-300 eac for a good used set
and you'd have to spend at least 4-5 times that for an
equally strong and light wheel from any reputable
manufacturer (BBS, HRE, Kinesis, etc.)

Personally, i would consider such large wide tires
cosmetic modifications and do not add to driving
pleasure or performance. The same money could be put
into a big brake kit or suspension upgrade instead.

Just my 2 cents worth.

Cheers,
Ken
