Oh hey now. Stop the train. What is this, pick on Keith day?

As I told Bob before, when I bought the car, the owner claimed the CD changer worked fine, but he had "magically" lost the cassette. He claimed "all you need to do is buy new cassette". His full service history of the car showed that the car was taken into the dealer a couple of times to fix a malfunctioning CD player. Of course, pessimistic me assumed this meant " CD Changer is broken, and seller stashed cassette so I couldn't try it out".
(You may or may not recall this car had a broken clutch when I bought it, so I couldn't even test drive it!! Boy it was cheap though)

OK Anyway, being pretty fed up with Bose from the 91 200q20v, I was equally unimpressed by the Bose in the S4. A friend of mine had a complete Alpine system for sale dirt cheap. (200W + 600W Amps, Head, 12 disk changer, 2x10" Subwoofer). Bose went "bye-bye" and Alpine was installed along with 4 MB-Quart cabin speakers.

Well whaddya know, but during the install of the Alpine CD changer we find the missing cassetter for the OEM CD changer stashed under the spare tire. (Hello Weirdness). So sure enough now I had a OEM CD changer (with cassette), but had already taken all the stock stuff out so there was no way to test it. It never occurred to me to check to see if there were actually any CD's in the cassette.

I ended up selling the CD changer to Bob Pastore on the list, with a "money-back" guarantee in case it truly didnt work. Much to his surprise when he received it, he found a nice collection of CD's included! I do specifically remember him giving me crap about the Marvin Gaye CD.

What Bob won't actually admit again, though, is that he enjoyed each and every one of those CD's , and still listens to the lot of them to this day....

Cheers,
Keith "Back to Motown tomorrow, but no MotownSound" Maddock

That's right, I sold the changer out of my 93 s4 to Jim cause I was selling
the car, then six months later bought my 95 Avant and had to buy the same
type changer back from Keith Maddock.

Net-net I might have I broke even, but made 2 friends along the way.

The changers are easily replaced with Sony cdx-a xx (10,15,30 - any will
work) which are readily and cheaply available used on Ebay. The difficult
part is the NLA tranceiver or "Magic Box", which is now impssoible to find.

BTW, I got a special bonus when I bought Keith's changer. The cartridge
was filled with 10 Cd's....Kenny G, Seals & Croft, Enya...I'll let Keith
A/K/A "Mr. Motown sound" TRY TO defend himself and I won't list the other
seven.

Bob
