[s-cars] Crank seal

Ah yes, the troublesome seal.

On my '91 200q I tried the screw trick - tore up the seal. It didn't budge.

I made a puller from a bent nail - tore up the seal some more. It didn't
budge.

I grabbed torn bits with needle-nose vice grips - tore up the seal some
more. It laughed at my feeble attempts.

I used a needle file and several hours of precious daylight to cut through
the thoroughly butchered seal shell and peeled it out without a) nicking
the crank or
			b) nicking the pump casing.

Some seals are glued in at the factory. Mine was one of them.

Good luck!

You knew this email was coming after reading my last one. :-P

Any idea how to get the crank seal out? I've tried the trick on SJM about
drilling a hole and using a sheet metal screw. No luck. The screw tears
right out. If anyone has any idea how this is done (apparently without the
tool since the kit I rented didn't include one)? Even if you don't know the
right way, any way is better than no way. At this point, if anyone has the
tool I'll give you a billion dollars for it!

Thanks,

JR
