Last week, I had noticed a small coolant leak on the garage floor but
could not locate the leak in the engine bay. On Wednesday, (a hot one
here in CO) I took the car out to run errands for about an hour or so
and noticed my temp warning light appear as well as my temp gauge
reading increase. I stopped at my office, popped the hood and found
nothing. I let the car sit for the afternoon and drove the car home
after work (about a 10 minutes drive), and as I pulled into the
driveway, it happened. Like a Cheech and Chong movie, smoke (actually
steam) started rolling out of the engine bay. I popped the hood to find
that the "auxiliary water pump" or "Turbo charger Coolant Pump" as
Bentley refers to it was leaking and spewing. Over the weekend I
removed the defective part. One of the two plastic nipples was broken.
Today I called around for a replacement and the local "stealer" wants
$215 for one (Retail is $205). I searched the web and found the exact
Bosch part at http://www.bestforeignparts.com/ for $96! Just my 2 cents
minus the $119 I saved just now.
