You're looking at this the wrong way...that squeal is the sound of EFFECTIVE
brakes :)

FWIW, my experience w/ the Porterfield R4S pads is they get noisy after being
on the car for a couple months...
Options:
1) brake more agressively--the squeal occurs for me only under light braking :)
2) try chamfering the leading edge of the pad a bit, or scuffing the surface of
the pad and/or rotor using garnet paper, then flush/rinse w/ brake cleaner.
