octane boost, yes, but not the crap they sell in the stores.  that
stuff isn't going to raise your octane very much.  they'll raise it
a few points, which is to say that it'll change the number to the _right_
of the decimal point.  not very helpful to raise your octane from
87 to 87.3.

go find a paint store, like sherwin-williams, and buy a few gallons of
toluene.  toluene is 114 octane (R+M/2 method).  a few gallons of toluene
should bring the octane up to about 91, which is still swill but should
allow your car to run ok.
