[s-cars] EM type, chip upgrades EGTs

Hmm, I was told 1k deg C before the turbo max, and somewhere under 800
deg C after. I have both a WB o2 and an egt after the hot side, soon to
have one after each cylinder. I know data points for WB and EGT's off
of the dyno. But honestly I think that cylinder pressure vs. crank
angle and WB data would be most useful, especially 4 gas data as well.
I would really like to find someone locally that has one, cylinder
pressure gauge, my local dyno shop doesn't think there is much to gain,
they are getting down in price and can be place under the spark plug or
even in it. Ultimately I would suspect that Exhaust temps are more
about motor endurance. But generically the higher the better from a
performance stand point, right. I suspect that egt's require that you
have some practical experience with the specific motor and cams used.
Otherwise with overlap you could have number that I would suspect may
cause some to retard the timing too much. But hey I could be wrong.

Of course I'd have to know where the thermocouple was located during
measurements, otherwise it makes no point in measuring EGTs :-)

Yup, that's the easiest way to install it, given the fact that there's a
CO test tube that can be removed and a fitting to be placed in order to
install the thermocouple.

Yes sir, actually my tuning is more based on the EGTs than on a WB
sensor output, simply because it's not always practical to install a WB
O2 sensor.

Well, I have universal adapters for my thermocouple that I use after the
turbine, in place of the original CO test tube (or the screw that's
there from the factory on some ABY S2s and on all RS2s). This way, I
know what temps to expect and what to do in order to correct them.

Nope, very unfortunately I don't....
