Hello Tue,
I also have a UK spec 1995 S6. There is no CE light - not even a bulb
holder in the harness as far as I can tell. You need to find out why the
1551 can't talk to the ECU. When I bought my VAG-COM, I found that I could
talk to all the other modules except for the 01 address. I emailed VAG-COM
for help and they said that ocassionally the wire joining the ECU to the
terminal in the fuse box went open circuit. I started to take things apart
to find out where the o/c might be and then it started working again. It
might be worth cleaning a few contacts - I seem to remember a place in the
fuse box where all the diagnostic (K lines?) outputs from all the computers
were joined together.
If the worst come to the worst, you might need to run another wire from the
ECU to the fuse box - and also to the check light while you're at it.
I'm not sure where the ECU is on UK spec cars - seems to be under the carpet
in the driver's footwell on US cars, so it might be the passenger's side on
UK spec cars, or maybe they use a mirror image harness, in which case it
will still be under the driver's carpet, but this time that will be on the
right-hand side of the car.
Without an ECU code, you can't really tell why the ECU is limiting the boost
- be glad that it is, though - it's protecting your engine from blowing
up!!!
Let us know how you get on.
