[s-cars] Big Reds Softer After Tracking Car?

Well on Saturday AM I flushed my brakes to make sure that I had no air in the lines...looked pretty clean..as the ATE Super-Blue came out w/o any air. Brakes felt a bit better but still I am concerned..as I am unable to lock the wheels with the ABS off. I mean it is not like the car doesn't stop...just I seem to remember the pedal being firmer and car stopped faster before tracking her.

I did the BOMB test to see if perhaps it was toast per SJM Auto. but the pedal did not get stiff until about 35 pumps so seems ok.

Now a few have suggested that my 2 Week old Porterfield R4-S pads are now toast...so I guess that is the next thing to check. One thing I did see that was interesting is that on the Rear wheels I saw evidence of the Rear Mintex Red Pads (metallic) actually turning the metal in the pads to liquid..as I saw very small metal splats on the inside of the wheels.

I could try putting the Mintex Red box back on the front but since they are a non-transfer pad would probably need to get the rotors turned. Guess I could replace the rear Mintex w/ Porterfields but that is sort PITA.

It is just interesting that I can press the pedal (with some force) down to the stopper w/o locking up the brakes. Is this normal? I would assume not...

I will see if I have time tonight (since I watch the TDF this AM ;-)) to examine the R4-S pads to see if there is any Pink/Red/White/Glazing/Cracking/Separation of the pads.

Any additional thoughts/advice on this topic would be appreciated...

Cheers

cp

Subject: [s-cars] Big Reds Softer After Tracking Car?

Gents,
So for the 1st time on Wednesday night I tracked my car. In the last week I changed my pads from the Mintex Reds to Porterfield R4-S. Well during the track time I would see the brake light come on and eventually go off after the brakes cooled a bit. The brakes felt better and better as I went on during the day.

However now driving my car they feel "softer" meaning takes more pressure to stop the car then before. They dont feel weak but softer. (ECS Stage II)

Brake Accumulator (The Bomb)?

Normal? Something Not right?

Here is me Apex'ing early:
