[s-cars] What is the deal with this Part!

I just wanted to post this and figure out if anyone
else is having the same expensive problem with a Bosch
electrical part. It seems as though once a year I wash
the car and water somehow gets down into the engine
compartment (even though I'm not washing the engine)
and falls onto something real hot (exhaust most
likely), and then creates steam that somehow floats up
into the collection of distribution (?) parts located
just behind the engine block (against the fire wall
covered by a rectangular black piece of plastic). The
part that has so far been replaced twice for around
$300 each time, and is about to be replaced one more
time, is part number 4A0 905 351 (if memory serves
me). I forget what it is called, but whenever it
breaks (shorts out) it causes a cylinder to stop
igniting and the car runs, but it's very rough and
power is just about halved. It also smells like sulfur
at the exhaust. What is this! How come it keeps
breaking! If anyone has any suggestions on how to keep
it from happening again that would be fantastic. I
think one solution might be to take petroleum jelly
and basically cover the entire outside of it to kind
of waterproof it, or maybe just cover it with some
tape. I would just like to hear that I am not the only
one shelling out $300 a year for this 2 inch piece of
plastic. Thanks.
