Matt complained about getting water damage into his distributor
electronics.

Marc replies:

Matt, disassemble the components and then pack them liberally with
dielectric grease. This grease is designed to prevent water penetration
into the electronics (and prevent corrosion at the same time).
Reassemble. Repeat at every electrical connector
on the car (trust me, whoever has the car in a decade will love you for
this). Meanwhile, when you go to wash the car, consider
wrapping the area that is being problematic with a layer of saran wrap
covered with a layer of aluminum foil and strapped down
with a rubber band. Works like a charm... Oh, and lay off the pressure
cleaner ;)
