You could just use some US spec parts on the car untill it passes and then return it back to original, I kow it would be somewhat costly but that's how I suppose it could be done.

Because the S2 and RS2 do not meet some of the mundane DOT "safety"
requirements such as a front bumper, etc. If it were possible to
import them, it would have been done. You can import them, you just
can't get them registered for street driving.

Write your congressman... :)

I, personally, would bring the RS2 if I were going to import something.
