[s-cars] HID recommendations and headlight removal - 35 vs 50w

Also -
Regarding HID kit wattage -  35 vs 50 watt ballast.  The kit I bought
has  35 or 50 watt ballast depending on how you wire it (dual output).
 The bulb is 35w. Pumping 50w through 35w bulb = brighter / more light
and perhaps shorter bulb life - correct?
A sales guy at Lltec told me this is not the case.  No point in running
50w through 35w bulb etc...??
anybody been through this?
