Dave et all-
this is an easy fix if you have some experience with a mutlimeter and
running some wire.
If you want to keep your radio the way Audi intended, read no further.
It's a matter of leaving the memory wire hooked up on the Bose unit the way
it is, and disconnecting the power lead and re-attaching it to a known
switched 12volts lead.
I believe I ran a line to the fuse box in the drivers footwell and connected
it to whichever one was 12v on the multimeter when the key was switched on.
Did the same thing for the V1, although I used a different circuit.
If you hook it up correctly, there will be no need to enter the radio code
except for that initial turn-on depending on what you disconnected while
doing this job.
Interestingly enough, i can turn my key gently toward the 'run' position and
get the radio and Hvac unit to turn on without having all the check lights
and the rest of the car ready to be fired up. although this may be due to
my ign. switch getting ready to give up the ghost... but who knows.

The power supply to the radio isn't switched from the factory.=CA As a resu=
lt,
the radio will be on until turned off.=CA If you were to change that input =
to
one switched by the ignition, you may end up with non-functional radio
memory,
or worse yet, have to enter the security code each time the car was turned
on.
