At this point, I'm talking about all of them. During the past couple of
weeks I've blown 2 110 "sport" valves, 2 108s and a 114 (these numbers refer to
the last 3 digits of the part #). The valve I currently have in the car is of
the same design, and made for the Sport Quattro application. It is different
from the others in design, and hasn't failed yet... but it has only been in the
car for 1 day. It is the only one of the designs that fully opens with only
manifold vacuum applied to it, so I'm going to try installing it "backwards"
and see how it does. If I do that, boost pressure will not work against the
valve, and the pressure on both sides of the diaphragm will be equalized (less
any pressure drop across the intercooler). That way the valve has a chance of
functioning correctly, and gives the diaphragm the possibility of long life.
