Subject: [s-cars] panel illumination

I'm impressed. You're right about the driver side heat seat. I guess I'm
luck becuause my OAT seems to work fine.

Today I pulled the switches for the heated seats. Beacause the driver side
doesn't heat, I swapped the switches to see if that made a difference. I
learned a couple of things:

1) The heating element DOES work in the driver seat using the other switch
2) The bad switch gets EXTREMELY hot (internally).. but the seat stays cold.

Has anyone ever repaired a bad switch?
If it's not possible to repair, can I swap a switch from the backseat into
the front?

thanks!

Oh my are you in for a good time! EVERYTHING is lighted. Even the mirror
control switch. Start with www.urs4.com and go the 'technical', then the
'interior' links. There are good instructions for the seat heater switches
there. Poke around other Audi sites and you can find instructions for the
mirror and window switches. By the time you do all those you won't need
instructions for the rest. Stock up on the correct red LEDs and Radio Shack
mini bulbs. You'll need more down the road. And probability dictates that
your OAT display and driver's seat heater don't work either.

Such a pain, but this car is so good that it's all worth it!
