Depends on your type of oil and ambient conditions. In general, there
is no such thing as too high an oil pressure. On 20W50, I run 5 bar at
cold idle, 2.2 after a nice 20 mile zoom down the highway at fairly
high speeds. With 10W30, it drops to 4 bar at cold, 2.0 bar at warm.
I'd be concerned if it ever dropped below about 2 bar on a regular
basis.

Overfilling can be measured at the dipstick with the engine off on any
level surface -- the hash marks on the oil dip stick are quite
accurate. Overfilling can permit some to burn off into the catalytic
converters and foul them (permanently) according to Audi's read me
stickers on my engine...
