[s-cars] Engine holder/trans jack etc.

First off, let me state for the record that I am pro yanking but very
against braking.

I am preparing to unload a big $59 for the Harbor Freight Trans Jack with
tiltable saddle.
http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/Displayitem.taf?itemnumber=39178
It lists here for $69 but my printed catalogue says $59, so I'll call in for
10 bucks savings.
Anyone have experience with this? Looks like it's "good enough" and could
ease trans install.

Also, when installing the new trans. the front of the engine needs to be
supported. Bentley shows a special audi tool for this. Sort of a bridge
over the front top of the engine that rests from fender to fender and has a
large screw or something that reaches down and attaches to the engine.
Presumably this would allow for some easy up and down adjustments while
fitting the new trans. Sounds handy.
I was thinking of just cheaply making this out of 2 x 4's. I know some
folks have supported the motor from the bottom. Any other suggestions out
there? Or; thoughts on how to make this bridge device? Engineers?
