Bobby and Hap,

The stock pistons are, according to MTM and Hans Dahlbaeck, good for about
600 HP, the problem being the compression ratio for HP above 400. The stock
rods are indeed good for about 400 crank HP, but not more.
The adjustable fuel pressure regulator is useless unless you want to play
with boost but the problem is that the software can't adapt itself to a .5
Bar increase/decrease in fuel pressure...
The 3.0 Bar pressure transducer is necessary for increased torque below
5000 RPM where boost higher than 1.5 Bar gauge pressure is necessary,
otherwise for HP alone it isn't necessary as 1.25 Bar at 6500 RPM on an RS2
turbo with the proper fuelling and timing settings is already good for 360
crank HP, which is about the maximum reliable HP available from the RS2
turbo. 380 is possible with about 1.4 Bar but the turbo is at its limits
and won't be able to supply them for extended periods and will go kaboom.
So, maybe you guys get 400 crank HP in the US with the full RS2 conversion
on worse fuel than our fuel in Europe (and Bobby is a lucky bastard as I
mentioned to him earlier as he has access to leaded fuel, which is good)
but you won't get them for long, whereas at 370 the risks of blowing the
turbo are a lot lower...

So if you say 27 psi is conservative, well, it just depends on the RPM you
get 27 psi at. If its 4000 it's fine but if it's more than 5500 RPM, your
turbo is just about to give its last breath...

This is just my 0.02 Euro worth of tuning AAN engines with RS2 turbos and
other goodies around them,

HTH,

Mihnea
