[s-cars] Left Foot Braking...w/o Direct Syncro Transmission

Ok..I am no pro here (that is obvious) but how the heck can you do LFB effectively w/o having a car that has a direct syncro transmission?  I mean I guess if you keep the car really up in the RPM's when you are LFB braking and not have to downshift.

But I would think LFB would be more valuable in a Rally Type Car then our cars (or at least mine) and that Heel-Toe would be a more effective means of keeping the car in the power-band? (Not to keep this discussion going but I would like some insight in to why LFB would be advantageous in our cars and under what circumstances?)
