Actually, that's true for the inland areas, even if near saltwater, such as the
Puget Sound areas of Washington.  We don't have the warm, humid highly
corrosive salt-air of say, Florida.  And for most of the areas here, salt is
used in sand only to keep the sand from freezing in the trucks, not to melt
snow & ice on the roads.  Coastal areas though, like where that rustpuppy is,
get wind-swept ocean/salt spray to corrode cars...whole 'nuther story.
