Chris,
ECM - J220 has 9 input/outputs (if you could the three wire cluster &
the four wire cluster as a single out), right? (Page X1100)
They are:
[23] feedback loop connecting The back side of the ignition coil (N122)
back to the ECM.
[37] main feed to D95 (Injector wiring harness)
[36] to N30 - injector cylinder 1
[17] to N30 - injector cylinder 2
[34] to N30 - injector cylinder 3
[35] to N30 - injector cylinder 4
[16] to N30 - injector cylinder 5
[1] T4/4 - 4 pin connector, brown, on POS near ignition coil
[2] T4 - 3 pin connector to ignition coil
Note none of these lead directly to S102 (5A Fuse), since continuation
[33] at S102 isn't in the X1100 diagram.
Also note that a backwards draw across main feed power at 30 from [33]
could be blowing the fuse, since S102 connects on
the backside of S61 and the fuse is direction independent.
X1071 shows that the current track for [33] is Ignition coil, N
(Neutral?), and Ignition coil for cylinder #2, provided the same wiring
harness was used for the five cylinder S6 as the 6 cylinder A6 (likely
in my mind, given the cost/benefit ratio of having a single wiring
harness, although that is belied by [17] on page X1100). I wonder if
the same harness was used, and one of the unused wires went open on the
end? Hmmm... Confused like you!
I'd physically trace [33] from the fusebox forward and search for
stripped insulation leading to ground (what's the results of a
continuity test from known good ground to [33] with the fuse out?).
Hope that helps for something.
Cheers!

CHRIS WROTE:
The fuse that is blowing is S102, the 5AMP ECM fuse. It is in position
5 of
the "Electronic Box" in a red plastic housing.
It is on pages X1098 and X1105 in Volume 3 of Bentley. It terminated
in "33"
with a box around it, etc.
