Uber-see,
Couple things.
Stock rotors (as on RS4) are SHW and not Brembo, n'est-ce-pas?
Next, I recall Guido F. bemoaning the rotor design due to, what he
explained, as cooling air passing through the center of the rotor,
axially, as opposed to being forced through the internal cooling vanes
radially. During the same conversation do you also recall him referring
to the GT2 6 piston monobloc as "the perfect caliper?" What are specs on
your RS6 movits?
Also, if Champion is using water spray "on" the brakes they are probably
just spraying water in the incoming air stream as opposed to directly
onto the rotors, don't you think? Assuming so, would you even see steam
per se?
BTW, just caught the Austrian GP on TiVo delay. Oh momma! What a race.
Full of drama. All that was needed was just a little more rain. The new
McLaren might just make the Championship interesting again. Say what you
will about Schumi, but to sit in there and sack it up as the refueling
rig spits fire is damn ballsy. My ass would have been in the hospitality
suite before the flames were out.
