Couple things,
I've been running the S6+ shift knob for a few years (ever since I
failed finding a one-iece knob + boot combo for the C4 chassis cars a la
the RS2 unit. Would still love to find one of these if it even exisits [
I swear I saw one in a press kit photo years ago]) and it is a very nice
unit. And yes, it is a perfect match for the sport steering wheel.
I've had two versions actually, one that is black plastic on the inside
and one that is aluminum on the inside (you can see the silver ring
between the leather of the knob and the leather shift boot).
Dan, re: your part number statement. There are PLENTY of parts w/o
numbers stamped on them. The S6+ shift knob being one of them (my stock
UrS knob being another). The RS2 knob / boot combo was also numberless.
Fasteners (nuts, bolts, washers), o-rings, some gaskets, suspension
springs (!), anti-roll bars, some emblems (RS4 rear) etc.. I am sure
there are others. Either that, or I have been the "lucky" one who has
gotten all manner of parts that accidently weren't identified. There is
a late UrS front rotor backing plate (more of a hub & ball joint heat
shield than a full rotor backing plate) that I was looking to buy. I had
the units in hand, and... no part numbers. When it comes to Hans und
Klaus, never say never.
