[s-cars] Has anyone put these wheels on the A6/S6?

I've been a wider is better tire guy my whole life, including 235/60-15
CN36's on a '72 Fiat 124 Sport Coupe.  BUT, having driven 225/45-17 SP9000's
and 2454/40 SUmi HTR-ZII's, both on 8" wheels, on the avant, I've got to say
that there is a lot to argue for the narrower tires in everyday use.
Despite being stretched on the 8" rims, with the same tire section height
the Dunlops were smoother and quieter, tracked the road surfaces and
imperfections much less and were just more pleasurable to drive.  They did
not have the edge of the Sumi's, but around here I rarely need it.  The only
really positive side of the 245's other than the edge bite, which is more
the difference in the tires, was the extra loading of the front end so that
I can actually tolerate the Servotronic and leave it plugged in for the
wife's occasional use.  She reallly noticed it not being there when the
245's were put on.  Oh, another negative.  Mileage definitely suffered on
the road with the wider tires.  About 1.5 mpg; much more than I expected.

That all having been said, watch me replace them with 255's, EVEN THOUGH
virtually all manufacturer's state that an 8.5" wheel is needed for the
255's, despite Audi's OEM usage on 8" wheels.  Even then, I'd go with the
Toyo T1S' or the Firestone SZ50EP's, both which have narrower tread widths
than comparable tires in that size.

That's my $0.02 worth of Italian lira converted to euro's....less than last
month.
