Not sure if it's too late for the advice, but left foot braking to
balance the car, smooth the transitions by minimizing transition
on and off the brakes/throttle.  And don't be afraid to "rub fenders".

It's LOTS of fun. Last time I did it, a small party of then fellow SCCA
guys came to an open session ('twas for a member's birthday, and the
party wasn't big enough for the track to close things up for just us) and
we just dominated. It was my first time in a Kart, but once I figured out
the left foot braking (these cars are sensitive enough anything that
smooths
them helps), it was to the front of the pack I went. Have fun!
