And now on to the main event - September's IAA and factory tour trip:
Hey J-
You're recount was cool, but suddenly took an utmost COOLER TURN for the
better:
<<<Somehow we hooked up with a tour group
from Down under and Jim Bonnet decides to impress the 21 year-old girls
with how much beer he can drink. I keep up, barely. It's like we're
back in college. Nobody is impressed except Don, who shepherds us back
to the Hotel. Jim is yakking half the night and I relieve myself in a
doorway. >>>
BWHAHahahahahaahaha!!!!! I laughed loudly here @ THAT one... BTDT...
d'oh. Too funny. As I'm only 30 I'm not TOO far removed from them days,
methoughts you might be a bit further away. Awesome, gots to love it.
Sounds like a great trip. Long read my arse... wow... what an amazing
adventure you managed to pack in! That is the ultimate Germany experience!
I had to cram mine in with the whole rest of Europe in 2k 8-(, but still
managed 5 ring laps in... yup... a turbodiesel. Peugeot 406... my best
lap was a solid 13, I was thrilled! Your "car smelled like sh*t" note was
spot-on, heh heh.
Zuffenhousen is like visiting a tiny college campus, unreal that one of the
world's greatest supercars can emerge from there, huh? Museum was cool...
until you got to MB!!! Now THAT is an f'n MUSEUM! Heh, didn't you already
know, 99.9999% of all MBs are just shades of black??? As in, silver, black,
grey, etc.? Kinda like the Henry Ford theory I s'pose 8-).
Cannot believe your "Norbert experience". Love it. It's things like that,
just exactly that (stranger, language barrier, late, rain) that make a true
'car guy'. That's so f'n cool. Man, and I thought driving Pastore's Euro
UrQ was an experience...
Hadn't realized you'd divested yourself of S cars, but, I hear ya. Just had
the kid, wife in the MommyML, no hopes for my track car for a few years. Oh
well. Enjoy the 16v, great car, bro had a beefed up '88 way back when, had
many a good time in.
Take care.
