[s-cars] Springs Question

H&R 29800 is for the 200q (typ 44) 20v, all of which came (in the US) in 1991
and with the "sport" suspension. For the '89-90 US-spec 200q's (10v, non-sport
suspension), use H&R 29616.
H&R 29921 was originally for the V8, and has since also been spec'd for the
urS4/6.
H&R 29771 was originally for the S6+, the Euro-only 4.2 V8 version of the S6.
Dimensionally, both (probably all 4) springs will fit and work...I know because
I am using 29921 springs in my '91 200q 20v. The 29800 supposedly drops the
200q 20v 1.3" fr & rr, but from others who have installed them that way, the
car drop less than that. With the 29921 on the 200q 20v, my car dropped only
about 5/8" front and rear. My objective, BTW, was not to lower the car as much
as increase the car's stiffness. My notes from a conversation with the H&R
distributor in 1998 indicate the rear springs on the two sets to be about the
same but the front springs for 29800 to be substantially softer (220#/in vs
300#/in at installed height).
Final note: YMMV even with the same spring spec #...another '91 200q owner
purchased H&R 29921 springs for his car...his car is substantially softer than
mine...only difference is he purchased his springs in the last year, I
purchased my set in '98.
