Been watching the zinc debate run back and forth...
One German Audi technical database says the type 44 (Audi 100/200) was
fully zinc'd from September 1985 onward. Prior to this time, some or
all body panels were zinc'd separately on certain platforms. Our '84
German-spec 100 had zinc'd front & rear quarter panels (thankfully).
The database also offers up the following trivia:
the type 44 had the world record (I assume in the 4-door class) for
aerodynamic drag at 0.30 at the time
Fastest mass-produced 4-door in the world (230 kph in 1984 -- Audi 200)
Best gas mileage record at the time -- over 4000 km on one tank (Audi
100 Avant Tdi)
