I also thought it was odd, but someone told me the antennae on the back
window did it all. so much for posting before I looked it up. in Bentley,
page 172-04 it describes the Antennae Amplifier as being part of the rear
window defogger. item # Z 24. So if someone was having problems with the
radio I’d suggest looking at the connections, especially the leads coming
off the window.
As for my question about the tri-mode mobile phone antennae. The antennae
stuck onto the back window says “CELLWAVE” and the boxy part of the
antennae stuck onto the inside of the window says 800Mhz. So I only need to
replace this antennae to get the tri-mode mobile phone dialed in.
sorry for the wasted bandwidth.
Ken

I've been thinking about upgrading my antennae also. I'm looking for a
replacement antennae that will also be usable for an in car mobile phone
(tri-mode-US) and will still work for the radio.
Any BTDTs?

I'm looking for a replacement antennae, for '95.5 S6. Terrible reception on
radio. Any suggestions?

95.5 ? Ha Ha - there's no antenna - it's in the glass. I went thru this
last summer and I finally gave up. There is a FM antenna in the windshield
and an AM/FM antenna in the rear window. There is also a signal booster in
the rear driver's side pillar. I tried a bunch of things - I first verified
that the signal booster was working and it was. I tried to tie in to the
cell-phone antenna - that did not do any good. I spliced in cable (extra
antenna) and put it in my trunk and in the spare tire well (it's palstic) -
it did no good. The only thing that did work was taking the cable (lamp
cord) and extending it away from the car (15 foot) not very practical. I
have thought about drilling a hole in my rear fender but I've managed to
suppress that desire.
Now I was told that some tinted windows will block radio signals and my
windows are tinted so that may be my problem. BTW AM reception is my only
problem, FM is clear. If you do find a solution I would be very interested
in hearing about it. I've resigned myself to listening to public radio and
CDs and tapes.
