I found a posting from Peter Schulz in the archives (I did my own homework)=
that stated he got Audi to cut a key from cylinder and VIN #'s.  My local d=
ealers say "no can do".  They can only make a copy of one of my worn keys.
I recently lost my only decent key and the one im using now scares the $#!T=
 out of me.  It sticks so bad that after start up I have to manually turn i=
t backward to disengage the starter. YIKES!!!.  AYBODY BTDT. Mine is 1995 S=
6 if that makes any diff.

Hey Ron-

Rossato will correct me if I'm wrong here, but I think the reason your key
is sticking is due to a worn / broken mechanism in the ignition switch
itself, not due to a worn key, and is a common problem (stupidAudi can
Vorsprung a great drivetrain but still used cruddy cheap old VW quality on
switches, bulbs, etc., don't get me started).  Bill Perron and mine recently
started doing the very same, and my key is only a year old.  It's not so
scary anymore, my hand has adapted when starting to return the key.  What IS
scary is dropping the car off for service, and forgetting to pass that word
along.  Twice.  Damn brain cells I tell ya.

~ $35 dealer part, not a hard job I'm told.  Too bad you're in PA... Bob
will be unwittingly and painstakingly installing both mine and Bill's
replacements @ my place next Fri. 10/18, while we do our usual "sit back,
point and laugh at PoorBob sweating away whilst we drink beers".  Poor
unsuspecting Bob...

A good number of others will be joining us (10+), FWIW, if anyone here would
like to come as well.  Pizzo's bringing the nowbrokenin Evo for my
abusiveflogging pleasure, if that sweetens the pot for you...  come tease
the Listbeoch in person?
