[s-cars] wastegate adjustment questions

Just out of curiosity, you should return the wastegate screw back to its original setting to see just how much was gained by it. I'll bet that the o2 sensor is likely responsible for most of your gains. But don't forget to tighten that wastegate screw back up afterwards. ;-)

Subject: [s-cars] wastegate adjustment questions

Hey everyone. Wasn't happy with my car's performance lately; it seemed out
of tune and not as fast as it should be. Decided to try adjusting the
wastegate last night as well as replace the o2 sensor. Turned the screw 360
degrees clockwise and went out for a test drive. Wow. Car has been totally
transformed, from merely quick and sometimes lethargic to a proverbial
screamer. Turbo spools up MUCH sooner and quicker now. It is especially
ridiculous on the highway, where 1.5 inches of gas pedal travel produces a
tremendous rush of acceleration. In third gear, I saw a maximum of ~21lbs of
boost; I could only muster about 16 before. While I am enjoying this to the
utmost, the prospect of turbo or other component damage really worries me.
The car has a Stage 1 TAP chip in it and an adjustable wastegate, stock K24,
nothing else. Did I turn it too far? Should I turn the wastegate back a bit?
What is the optimal setting for these things? The change is amazing and
addicting but at the same time I keep worrying...Thanks,

Rokas
