My experience with lockers as well James. Ideal brake force distrbution is a result of locking the center diff. As all audisport driven (especially your rally car) are. In fact, audisport deleted the center differential all together early in the rally years, and just ran locked all the time. The ideal brake distribution is achieved because the driveshafts actually become the brake balance under all weight transfers. Even after some creative biasing arrangements in the late 80's, it's interesting to note that the group A 95 S2 I serviced (with Alcon x 4) went back to no bias and lockers center and rear,without the option of disengagement.
There are a couple of audi written SAE papers on the subject if you are interested. In the 5ktq race car, you don't have to look at the diff lock light to know when it's not engaged. The first braking point reminds you quickly
