[s-cars] Things I want to know...

I have a 93 S4 with 62000 miles, that has a similar noise in the
driveline. It sounds like tire noise but my present tires are almost
bald, so don't think that it is tread howl. To be specific about the
noise, it is an A flat below middle C at 60 mph, if you are musically
inclined. It is definitely in the driveline and could be the center
bearing. I guess it could also be the dreaded trany pinion bearing, but
I think that the noise is too low in frequency for that failure. Let me
know what yours turns out to be.
