[s-cars] Starter Problems (long and an attempt at comedy)

Ok, so it's Friday night (of course) and I fire up the beast (miss greedy
piggy) and dive about 60 miles to get my daughter for the weekend. So I pick
her up at mom's, and we drive to the beer store (yes, we have em up here.
Kinda like prohibition) to grab a square for the weekend at the cottage. All
in all un-eventful, till I drive across the street to top up the fuel.
I get's the gaz, and go to fire up the beast, when low and behold, nothing.
No click no grind no fart, nothing.
So, I get the gas station monkey to lend a hand on the back, and 20 feet
later and a drop of the clutch and we are back in business.
So, I parked on a lot of hills this weekend, or planned to have friends
around. Now I am back home and parked on a flat driveway, and of course all
the drinking buddies are up north.
So, any BTDT's on fixing this problem. I am going to get into the books, but
I thought I'd ask first just in case this is a common problem. I had NO
warning of impending doom, except maybe a bit slower to turn over lately. I
am thinking it's the starter, but have never seen one to give it up like
this did.
Thanks for any input,
Mark S
PS. to top it all off I got pinched for 120 in an 80 on the way home. :-(
