I have lot's of pictures, it was in many way's the basis for my own. I
was offered it from Brian and really had to think long and hard not to
get it. More because I wanted to do my own thing rather than because
there was much wrong with it. O.K. so I don't really like the end
tanks. I saw brian put his on, it literally took like less than 4
hours. It is a pretty well worked out kit. Mine took me the better
part of 40 hours, and I am finding little fit and finish things that I
may need to fix on mine. In the end I have maybe half the cost in
materials that brian offered to sell his to me. I have about 10 times
the cost in my time though.
Brian has 360hp to the ground with his FMIC so I suspect it is no
problem for that HP. I have also heard of people with more HP on the
stock IC although it isn't recommended.
What's the final word, if you can do it yourself then I would still
think about it if I where you. If you are thinking of having someone
make it, I doubt that you could converge on something that is a well
sorted out on your first try and it would definitely be more expensive.
This intercooler is a genesis of the one's that Hap and MLP have so
there are at least 2 or maybe 3 or more rev's before it.
If I had to change anything, with mine I would probably use one more
Wiggins fitting $$$$ I got all of them off of ebay. They alone are
around 120 ea x 4 the intercooler is somewhere between $400-$1000
depending on who you get it from. The aluminum bends are around $90
reducer is another 50 or so. Strait tube is another $30. Then there
are the custom ends to fit to the Samsco hoses. You could make them $10
in material and 4 hours on a lathe or you could buy the $300 tool to
make the bead. You will also need at least a half sheet of aluminum,
maybe another $50. So somewhere in the 1k+ range in material, then add
the time to cut the bumper make the custom brackets, make the custom end
tanks, machine the bits and pieces to put it all together, take the 10
hours of welding time and 1 pound of welding rod. Oh ya I made my
bottom mounting brackets out of chrome molly I have about 8 hours just
in those. The end tanks took me nearly a day each and I also had to
make a mock up wooden buck. That is also including the 1 or two side
plates that I screwed up on and had to remake. Mine are made out of 5
pieces of aluminum that had to be all fitted together, none of them with
a straight edge on it. Formed from the rectangle section of the
intercooler to the round tubing, all hand beaten and formed over custom
made bucks, another 2 hours on the really large buck I had to make to
match the tubing diameter.
Ok, you get the picture.

Trevor,
I talked to Brian B about the intercooler he has for sale. Its way more
expensive than I had hoped to spend but I am really getting desperate.
What is your opinion on it? Is the quality there? Will it be good for
400+HP? How is the fit and finish? Thanks for any info.
Elijah
