I put mine on it's side and built a little metal strap to hold it down.
Since it's a gel cell it don't care how it's mounted.

I recently put in an Optima Red Top with Reverse Posts. They are
wonderful. I bought rubber boots for the terminal plugs as the Optima
sits a little high and could touch the metal lattice of the seat. I
got the battery at an Interstate Battery Store for $110. The rubber
boots I got from a local napa.

Costco sells normal Optima Red Tops (without Reverse Posts) for like
$90 if you are a member. You may have to do a little finagling to get
the cables to the correct post, but, other listers have done it.

Watching Le Mans this year, there was a shot from one of the pit crews
yanking an Optima Red Top out of the Corvette and putting in another
one...

Cheers,
Brian
