I initially attempted to "gravity bleed" the system by filling the brake fluid reservoir and by cracking open the bleeder valve on the slave cylinder and allowing gravity to pull the fluid through the system (draining through a hose into a container).

I have heard (somewhere on this list) that this method takes a fair bit of time... so, I continued with this method for over 15 hours (overnight), filling the brake fluid reservoir every few of hours to ensure that I don't introduce any new air bubbles into the system!

So, I began pumping the clutch pedal by hand (as to facilitate lifting the pedal up to normal rest position)... after about 300 pumps, I started to detect some pressure in the bottom inch or two of the pedal movement. However, at 800 pumps there is no significant increase in pressure at the pedal?

Brent,
clutch bleeding requires a pressure bleder. You can get one for ca. $50.
